There are hundreds of 'miserable old sods' who live in Pattaya. I have met hundreds who grizzle about everything. I wonder why they just don't leave.

It's a breath of fresh air to get back to Issan - away from all the grumpy farang. Pattaya is a fun place for a holiday - but I doubt if I could live there.

Normally its someones birthday, which is like a magnet for the sad old tight wads, because not only does it mean free food, but you normally see them baby sit a maekong/coke for about 4 hours, by which time there have been several renditions of bell ringing, by which time said tight wad has been fed and drank spending about 50 baht :o

Yes, balloons means parties, usually birthdays, and free food, hence the term "balloon chasers" about guys who find a place with balloons to do their drinking in order to have free food.

It's probably not a bad idea as the girls are usually well juiced at these parties, but as the food almost always seems to be the same selection (pig on spit, and fried rice) I think it would probably get old pretty fast.

Its funny,

if you have ever had a party, at a bar in pattaya.

All these people come out the woodwork for a freebee.

its a giggle, why not, it’s a fun night anyway. :D

So we call them Balloon spotters in pattaya.

Have a nice day :D

Met many miserable old sods in Sailor bar over the years, i stoped going in about 4 years ago after miserable old mamasan barred one of the hosteses ( the ones who just serve drinks) from talking to me!

Good place for a cheap afternoon sesh though i must admit, the drinks are cheap and you can really taste the whisky.

Never had a breakfast there, they used to do a nice lentil soup and a nice goulash soup though.
