Easiest Non O border bounce from Khon Kaen?

Featured Replies

My friend needs to do a border bounce from Khon Kaen, I heard there is an international bus that goes from KK to Savannakhet and if you have a visa for Laos and a visa to get back into Thailand, you can use the same bus to the border and back to KK again. Does anyone have any information? Contact info or location of departure? Thanks!

As far as I know there are no international buses from Khon Kaen to Savannakhet. There are only buses from Mukdahan to Savannakhet.

There is one from there to Vientiane shown here at #5 on this list. http://home.transport.co.th/index.php/th/time-table-english/item/443-ตารางเดินรถโดยสารระหว่างประเทศ-international-route.html

I understand you(he) have a visa for Thailand so a generic border run.

From Khon Kaen the easiest and quickest drive is to Nong Khai/Vientiane.

Although there is an international bus from KK to Vientiane I would not care.

Look for a proper bus to Nong Khai.

Alternatively you can take one of the tons of buses to Udon Thani and change there to Nong Khai.

Bus over the bridge is 20 Baht or so.

Pass Lao immigration and return if you don't fancy a visit to Vientiane.

Really no lack of transportation on this busy route.

From the Nong Khai bus station probably a tuk-tuk needed.

But I can't tell because only been there by car.

There are many detailed descriptions of "visa run"/"border run" to Nong Khai/Vientiane here in the forum and on the net.

Many nationalities get a visa on arrival for Laos.

Some are visa exempt (e.g. Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway until end of 2018).

What nationality is your friend?
