Teaching License for Non B Visa

Featured Replies

Hi! I just got a teaching job here in Thailand and now I want to change my visa status from ED to non B in my home country. in the requirement, the embassy ask for teaching license. Is it a necessary document or is there any other substitute document? If it's necessary, where can I apply the license?

Best Regards

I don't recall a teaching license being required to apply for a non-b visa on any embassy website I have checked for the requirements. Perhaps the embassy in your home country want one from there instead of Thailand.

You cannot get a teaching license or the waiver of it here without having a non-b visa already.

These are what written on Indonesian embassy site:

3.1.4   Additional requirements for special professions:

                       3.1.4.1   School Teachers

                                    - Curriculum vitae/resume

                                    - Police Record issued by the Indonesian National Police (in English)

                                    - A teaching license

                                    - A copy of school registration/license and signed by authorized person/s

                                    - Applicants for private school’s teacher are also required to submit a letter from the Ministry of Education in Thailand

As I said it would be a catch 22 if they want a Thai teaching license or a waiver of it since you cannot get one without having a non-b visa entry.

Perhaps you should apply for the non-b visa at neighboring country that do not ask for one. Also they would accept a Thai police clearance certificate instead of having to get one for Indonesia like the embassy wants.

I have a waiver of a teaching licence from Khru Supha here in Thailand and I do not have a non-b visa. My visa is a Non Imm O based on marriage to a Thai.
