All Thais to be required to file taxes from 2027
Yes I am aware of this but my understanding this is not being enforced . Also it is only income that is subject to tax. I remit saving so do not file a tax return but still try and follow what is going on with taxes. I do not want to have to file a tax return and get into what is income and what is savings. -

Report Gold Heist Foiled at Tak Mall: Suspect Apprehended
Picture courtesy of KhaoSod In a dramatic turn of events yesterday at Lotus Mall in Tak Province, a 28-year-old man was apprehended by police after attempting to steal a gold necklace from Wang Tokang Gold Shop. The suspect, hailing from Mueang district, was caught in the act when store staff raised the alarm. The suspect, named Thanapol, initially posed as a customer interested in purchasing gold. However, his behaviour raised suspicion among the shop employees, prompting them to alert mall security. Just as Thanapol tried to make off with the necklace, police officers patrolling the mall intercepted him. Police Colonel Sitthichai Yimyuan, who joined the swift response, described the incident as a close call. Officers had just overheard store employee Onchuda Sukla shouting for help when they spotted Thanapol sprinting away. The attempted theft involved a gold necklace weighing one baht, valued at approximately 30,000 Thai Baht. It was discovered near an eyewear store, only about 15 metres from the gold shop, after the suspect's capture. Upon his arrest, Thanapol admitted to his actions, revealing that he arrived at the mall on a blue-black Honda Wave motorcycle, which police have seized as evidence. During questioning, he confessed that financial pressure had driven him to attempt the theft, expressing regret over his failed escape. Interestingly, Thanapol also had a knife on him at the time of his arrest. He insisted it was a regular carry item for personal safety and not meant for use in the crime. As the incident unfolded quickly, mall-goers were visibly shocked but relieved at the timely intervention by the police. Thanapol is now in custody, awaiting legal proceedings. This attempted theft highlights ongoing concerns about economic pressures leading individuals to desperate actions. Local authorities commend the gold shop staff and police for their vigilance and swift response, underscoring the importance of community cooperation in ensuring public safety. The efficient handling of this situation serves as a reminder to businesses and law enforcement alike to remain observant and prepared for such eventualities.
