In just two days the world’s first Muay Thai Expo will debut its

artistry to the world. Hosted by the Sports Authority of Thailand,

the four day long event will take place in conjunction with

Thailand’s first ever MotoGP.

At the recent press conference for the MotoGP, the Governor of

Buriram said they are expecting 300,000 spectors— more than six

times the current population of the city. Already 300 local and

international media have registered to attend.

Hotels have been booked for months, resulting in the city setting

up two addition campsites at the Buriram Sports Complex and Khao

Kradong Forest Park; both facilities are now sold out.

To prepare for the influx of traffic in the area, the Governor has

banned cars from The Chang International Circuit and will instead

be providing a free shuttle service to take people to and from the

venue.

Nakhonchaiburin, a partnership between Nakhonratchasima,

Chaiyaphum, Buriram and Surin Provinces, will come together to

provide food for the event. They will be cooking up a wide array of

local delicacies, in addition to Halal food options.

As Thailand has been bestowed the contract for the MotoGP for an

additional two years, the Governor has taken extra precautions to

make sure the event runs as smoothly as possible.  The the

local police received addition training, and are ready and educated

in crisis management as well as medical services.

The Muay Thai Expo is now setting up the stage for the highly

decorated fight card on 05 October, in addition to the Muay Boran,

and Wai Kru performances that are scheduled for the duration of the

event. There will more than 100 professional Muay Thai Fighters

coming to the Expo to take part in the festivities.

At total of eight nations will join together to complete the 11

fight card.  The fight that everyone is talking about, is the

rematch between Tawanchai PK Saenchaimuaythaigym and Kulabdam

Sor.Jor.Piek-U-Thai. After a thrilling initial encounter at

Lumpinee Stadium just last month, fight fans nationwide have been

asking for an encore.

The pair first met at 136lbs, with Tawanchai taking the decision

victory in a highly competitive affair. This time they will be

tipping the scales at a whooping 140lbs, with the new weighthighly

favouring the Surin native, Kulabdam.

A detailed schedule of events will be released shortly via the

Expo’s Facebook page. On the final day of festivities, Thai pop

music group BNK48 will be performing a mini concert for those in

attendance..

Both the international and local Muay Thai communities are excited

to join together for this momentous occasion.  If you can’t

make the event, you can stay posted via the event’s

Facebook page.

A highlighted portion fight card will be broadcast live on Armin TV

from 18:00-20:00.

Tickets are available from All Ticket at 7-11 stores

nationwide.

There's not enough accommodation for the motogp alone yet they have a muay Thai expo at the same time?.

Accommodation is tight but many will be staying around southern Isaan and travelling on the day, as they do in any other country.

Never 300,000 . Im sure the circuit couldn't hold that and even the main European races only get 100,000 per day . Or are they at it like the tourist numbers and just adding them up instead of stating there will be around 100,000 per day there .

have you read that people who booked months ago are having their bookings canceled so Thai people can go to this event?

No I haven’t seen that. I suspect there’s been some overbooking at the hotels and maybe they’re favouring their Thai customers. Still not good if that’s happening.
