Recent SETV from Hanoi Experiences?

Featured Replies

I'm planning my visa run for next month and I'm curious if anyone here has recent experience with Hanoi.  I've never been to Vietnam, and I'd like to know how friendly they are in terms of granting SETVs.

My passport currently has one METV from the USA, and two SETVs from Hong Kong back to back.

My experience in Hanoi was about 18 months ago, but I have not read anything that suggests things have changed much in the intervening period. For the most part, applying there is a comfortable process. There are rarely significant queues. You apply in the morning, and receive your passport back with the visa on the afternoon of the following day. They will want you to show a recent bank statement (from anywhere) that shows a balance of about US$1,000, equivalent and air tickets into and out of Thailand. They may be willing to waive one of these, especially if it is you first application for a tourist visa from them. (When I applied, I had the bank statement, but they did not ask for it.)

I used HCMC, the adhered to what was on their website as required docs.

Plus they replied to email enquiry the next day.

Perhaps email them for clarification of what to bring.
