Police on Friday arrested the cashier of a Pattaya hotel for allegedly stealing 2,000 euros (Bt76,000) from a Finnish tourist and Bt10,000 from the hotel.

Pattaya police chief Pol Col Apichai Krobphet said Sureeporn Soonthaisong was arrested under a warrant issued by the Pattaya Court.

Sureeporn worked as a cashier at the front office of the Thepthip Hotel near Khao Phra Tamnak in South Pattaya when she allegedly committed the thefts on Tuesday.

Police said the Finnish tourist rented a security locker at the counter to deposit 2,000 euros in cash but Sureeporn somehow switched the key with the key to another box and stole the cash late at night.

She also stole Bt10,000 from the cashier's machine, police say.

Police arrested her at her room not far from the hotel.

I thought naming and shaming businesses or a person in any way is against thai law and potential for a defamation lawsuit. Wonder why The Nation can get away with mentioning the business?

I still don't get it do nobody Have credit card ?

it seems like farang only have cash when they arrive in Thailand hmmm

Bad lady for sure

Heck, using ones credit card in SE Asian countries is not exactly secure compared to Europe or North America. With cash, credit cards or any valuables  you do not leave them laying around in the room.

Over the years I have never had anything stolen from any security box.  I go back and forth as to whether I prefer the boxes to be behind the counter where they are in more view of more people and one person stealing would be hard, or if I prefer the boxes that are say on the side of the entrance, where less people go, but also less people see it.  I have only stayed in country for like 2 months at a time so I never had much more thatn 3 or 4 K USD in there, my spare credit and debit card, my US Phone ( I use a thai cell when traveling), and a few other nick knacks

And people tell me Thai girls have brains just like you and me.  But the brain was clearly not working . A hotel , cameras ,

"Oh look. money, I steal , tomorrow everything okay."

Its a grubby looking hotel.

Is it one of those cheap overnight (bargirl) hotels?

The security boxes dont look secure at all. Anyone could climb inside.

You get what you paid for.

No thanks.
