bbi1
"Sureeporn worked as a cashier at the front office of the Thepthip Hotel near Khao Phra Tamnak in South Pattaya when she allegedly committed the thefts on Tuesday." I thought naming and shaming businesses or a person in any way is against thai law and potential for a defamation lawsuit. Wonder why The Nation can get away with mentioning the business? With cash, credit cards or any valuables you do not leave them laying around in the room.

It seems that this time putting them all in the safe deposit box wasn't a safe bet either.... 3
TEFLKrabi
If you’ve ever had your credit card compromised in Thailand you know why cash is the better option.
Popular Post baansgr
Have some sympathy for the poor girl, she probably has to take care of her Father, pay school fees for other family members and is expected to build a mansion in Buriram...on top of that she has to buy food, fuel and pay rent...give the girl a break

With cash, credit cards or any valuables you do not leave them laying around in the room. not only in Asia. I put a bunch of travelers' cheques in a rather nice and reputable Hotel's safe, closed and taped the envelope. next day checked, envelope all good, bunch of travellers' cheques inside. A few days after went to cash some cheques and noticed that the serial number sequence was interrupted, counted, and about 15 were missing: 1500 $ was (and is) a lot of money in rural Africa. The soon-to-be-great-again-country express traveller cheques company refunded the missing cheques. So, the small amount of premium paid was well spent ????
Sydebolle
Not really newsworthy; let the cashier face the music, lock her up and close the file. Possibly a lesson learnt - most likely not though ......

gk10002000
Over the years I have never had anything stolen from any security box. I go back and forth as to whether I prefer the boxes to be behind the counter where they are in more view of more people and one person stealing would be hard, or if I prefer the boxes that are say on the side of the entrance, where less people go, but also less people see it. I have only stayed in country for like 2 months at a time so I never had much more thatn 3 or 4 K USD in there, my spare credit and debit card, my US Phone ( I use a thai cell when traveling), and a few other nick knacks

lanista
Its a grubby looking hotel. Is it one of those cheap overnight (bargirl) hotels? The security boxes dont look secure at all. Anyone could climb inside. You get what you paid for. No thanks. Edited October 8, 2018 by lanista
Jingjock
I shed a we bit of sympathy here, it must be difficult for poor people that handle money being able to resist stealing. But this Also happens with the white collar workers in the western world.
