TAT asks Thais to be good hosts to boost tourists’ confidence

Featured Replies

It's like those Bkk taxis with signs "I [heart] farang."  You know that guy is out to screw you, and not in the amorous sense of the word.

How about "special price for tourists"?  ????

  • That statement is going to put taxi drivers in a moral quandry when they find millions in the backseat.

  • Just wait for the imminent TAT press release, describing how it is really a traditional Thai greeting - predating the wai.

  • "How much should we charge for this rescue?" "50% discount. We have to be good hosts!"

Ah, you mean so the drivers screw them more carefully and diligently - so they don't realise it immediately- giving the tourists the impression it was a fair ride.

There is no reason to take a tuk-tuk in Bangkok, except if your ass is too big to fit in a taxi.

I agree with the man, we should be more welcoming to our foreign visitors. We could, as example, charge them 10 times more when they visit a national park.

Wasn't dictated as to which one of the particular famous smiles that the good Thais might use in their everyday interaction with the strange blue-eyed devils...????

Deceiving smile?

Bashful smile?

pissed off smile?

Insincere smile?

Go <deleted> yourself smile?

Saving face smile?

Etc....

There has been studies conducted, for years, regarding the wide varieties of seemingly benign Thai smile and knowing how to read them all and their enigmatic translations.????
