LOS ANGELES (KABC) --

Voting registrations nationwide and in Tennessee have significantly increased just a day after singer Taylor Swift posted a rare political Instagram post.

According to Vote.org on Monday, nationwide, there have been 51,308 new registrations in the past 24 hours.

It also saw a general spike in website traffic in the last 24 hours, with 155,940 unique visitors.

In the state of Tennessee, 2,811 registrations from September increased to 3,582 in October so far, and 2,144 of those were in the last 36 hours, according to the website.

Dude... not nice.

maybe she was referencing her sexual assault by David mueller, his lawsuit against her, her countersuing ( and winning), plus the ignominy that it entailed.

as to political opinion... she’s been included in the list of the 100 most influential people in the world, and the 100 most powerful women in the world.... so I’m thinking her opinion matters a good deal, to a lot of people.

It is only these stars' large egos which make them believe that their political opinions are of such importance that the world needs to know about them and that they will influence future voters.  Why on earth would a singer's views be of any more importance than those of (for example) a car mechanic's or a painter and decorator?  The latter two would probably have far more knowledge of ordinary everyday life than a rich person.

Lmao.... What?

You mean stars like Ronald Reagan. Arni. Clint. Trump

yep... large egos etc etc

your last sentence is kinda wacky.... if the latter two have more knowledge than a rich person, then why do you elect rich people?

What's truly bizarre - or perhaps not given who they are and how they arrive at their beliefs - is a contingent of right wingers who, as is their wont, had convinced themselves on the basis of absolutely nothing that Swift was with them:

I thought I read that she usually prefers voting for female pollies... in her state it’s a republican female, so they expected her to follow that trait unquestioninh (supporting maga by default).... vs intelligently weighing up her options.... guess they were wrong... or just plain ignorant.

Stay tuned. Next, Trump will be stating that she can't sing, that she's ugly and her career is failing.  Standard Trump procedure for anyone who does not support him.

Late word is Taylor Swift has had quite an impact with her tens of millions of followers. Her particular demographic is likely to trigger a substantial blue wave.

It may be quantity versus quality but whatever it takes to dump trump, I'm all for it Swift.

Like or not, but yes, it does matter, and some of her fans will be influenced by this.

Taylor Swift's endorsement of Democrats has led to 65,000 NEW voter registrations in just 24 hours.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-6257479/Taylor-Swifts-endorsement-Democrats-led-65K-new-voter-registrations-just-24-hours.html

It's the last day to register in Tennessee, oct9 and the article does not say

which party.  so who knows but what exciting!

"Vote.org saw [Tennessee] registrations spike specifically since Taylor's post,' Guthrie said.

The website registered 5,183 new voters in the state so far this month, with Guthrie confirming 2,144 of which were in the last 36 hours alone.

That number is a big increase from the 2,811 new Tennessee voter registrations in all of September and the 951 in August."

Having your vote influenced by a pop star should get you suspended from voting until you decide to grow up. Probably you should be grounded too, and no Playstation for a week

And if you're influenced by a populist you should probably be suspended from voting forever.

And if you're influenced by a 70-year old con man, you need to take away his toys.

You're talking about DT, right?  ????

And it's all these things (and more) that make her a social media star, and that is what makes her a notable influence.  Girls 18-25 who are busy with gossip and selfies being motivated by stories like the naughty, lying frat boy who was just installed in  SCOTUS.  Sounds like this could bolster blue state turnout.  Too bad she didn't do it a week ago, before the voter registration deadlines came up.

Empty headed people doing whatever they are told by celebrities?  Yeah, 35% of Americans worship an orange-colored 70+ year old tv personality with a goofy hairdo who will say ANYTHING to get a vote.

Coming attractions for the next few weeks: defamation of this girl, including vids of her submitting to group sex, sex with animals, you name it, and even more lurid stories.  Reports of her being George Soro's mistress.  Lesbian affair with (insert name of non-supporter of DT here).  How she is a Muslim, and belongs to a terrorist cell.  And of course, the faithful at the DT love rallies chanting "lock her up."   And "no one likes her."

The girl is no idiot, she has been more or less in control of her career from the beginning, not just another popstar dependent on their manager (like Bieber).  She knew what she would get, and I commend her bravery.  But on the other hand this could count as yet another social media headline grab to promote herself.

And of course if she did the same thing but favored the GOP, her biggest detractors would be praising her on high.

she'd be lucky if she got any kind of attention. maybe a trump tweet can help her out.

ABC’s “AMAs” set a new record low in TV ratings on Tuesday, despite Taylor Swift opening the show with a performance and closing it by clutching the evening’s top award.

But I heard they are playing/pushing her songs on the radio twice an hour.

Boy, you're really working hard in support of the orange orangutan.  I'd imagine you're the kind of guy that might have a pro-Trump bumper sticker on your truck.  You might want to be careful about that if you're in the USA....

And what was your take on the record low turn-out for the man-child's inauguration. Was that significant in the same way as the (allegedly) recordlow TV ratings?

im not the one "alleging"

as for Trumps turn out, his pre election rallies looked packed so  why would his inauguration have low turn out? thatd be weird or false.  think.

When making absurd statements like that one I would suggest that you not ask people to "think" (the reason being obvious).

Because Trump was astroturfing attendees at campaign rallies?

At his inauguration Trump was already elected POTUS. Why pay anyone to attend?

No one was hurt.  But it does suggest that there are quite a few Americans who hate Trump even more than I do.  And they probably believe that anyone stupid enough to support the fat bastard deserves to have their vehicle torch.  Just sayin.

A lot of those paying guests at the inauguration were Russians.  He sure has a lot of them in his social circle.  ????

In the backlog of scandals involving this character is the amount of $$ the inauguration committee collected versus the amount spent -- the gap is huge, and unaccounted for.  My guess is it involves money laundering.  Maybe Mueller is on it, if and when he ever reports...

DT has been paying people all along, from that first day he announced his candidacy those people cheering his were paid to.  Noo Yawkas hate him, started long before June 2015.

That happened in Vancouver, Washington (not to be confused with the one in BC), which is right across the river from Portland OR.  Very big, and notorious, Antifa sentiment in the Portland area.  Search the news sites for some impressive demonstration confrontations.  Election night people swarmed onto the freeways, seemed like everyone in town from 17 to 40 was out there.  On the other hand there are carloads of young guys who drive around harassing anyone driving a vehicle with any sort of anti-DT indicator; a few ugly incidents in the press if you care to look it up.  Oregon has 36 counties, and only 7 or so went blue in 2016.

I'm in that area now.  I've had the idea of getting melted chocolate and smearing it on the hateful bumper stickers etc, which many will assume is doo-doo.  Yeah. it's looks disgusting but it's chocolate, Abbie Hoffman would be proud.  I probably won't do it though, I'm too old to risk jail.  These people are still stirred up about HRC, the living anti-christ.  I've tried to talk to a few on occasion, but it just makes it worse, you wouldn't believe how these people believe that all gov't powers (like the FBI) are conspiring against their poor orange messiah.  Most of their part of the conversation is directly relaying crap from Fox News.

Hook, line and sinker.

sorry if thats above your head.also  tv ratings forthe inauguration were second highest ever.  get over it and try again in 2020 instead of fantasizing about vandalizing cars lol

Hard not to fantasize when there's so much available.

Donald Trump’s inauguration drew 30.6 million total viewers across 12 news networks—19% fewer than Barack Obama drew in 2009, when 37.8 million tuned in to watch the 44th president’s first swearing-in.
