BANGKOK, 10th October 2018 (NNT) – The Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) is to begin using a new fare rate for its NGV buses starting on October 15 in line with resolutions made by the Central Land Transport Commission but assured commuters the adjustment will only apply to new buses.

Deputy Director of Bus Operations and Acting Director of the BMTA Prayun Chuaykaeo, explained that the Central Land Transport Commission has set bus fares for Bangkok and its vicinity at between 13 and 25 baht despite the authority operating its buses with passenger fares of between 11 and 23 baht in accordance with Ministry of Transport policy set in February 2015.

It was decided on September 19 that all new air conditioned BMTA buses would have to adhere to the commission’s regulation. In compliance, the BMTA has announced that 100 of its new NGV Low Floor buses will adjust to a higher fare starting on October 15. The change will affect buses on routes 20, 21, 37, 105, 138 and 140.

The buses are a universal design and equipped with amenities such as CCTV, GPS navigation and wheelchair ramps.

Already paid 25 baht last week.

But bus was very comfortable, smooth & quiet running, and super cold air-con.

The "super cold air-con" would put me off. Turns sweat to icicles, thermal shock and all that.

The big thing to beware of when the a/c is like that is NEVER get on that a/c type of bus if you have been caught in the rain and your shirt is wet. You will catch a cold within a few hours, guaranteed.

They just HAVE TO, with the super cold air-cons.... Must be done in order to make passengers feel "hi-so".

I kinda liked the old non-AC buses in BKK 40 some years ago.  Need air?  Hang off the side of the bus on the steps.  And they leaned over on that side so far that it was an easy step to the pavement. But they did have a few air-con buses back around 2512 or thereabouts.

Edit:  Oops, 2521.
