BANGKOK — The Election Commission’s secretary general said Thursday that political parties would have to receive permission from the junta to accept public donations.

Police Col. Jarungvith Pumma said letters would be sent to all political parties on Friday to clarify the matter and reminded parties not to break the law. Junta order No. 57/2014, bans political activities, and its recent relaxation does not include the acceptance of public donations.

"Future Forward Party raised 20 million baht on Saturday alone, the first day it allowed member registrations. The party did not specify as of press time what it would do with the money it had already received."

However a "Pie and Pea" supper has been planned.

Also at a later date"hot pies"  will be avaiable at the bar.

No Bovril?????

Not surprised that retro-active inclusion band-aided for the ambiguous junta order. Order on political ban will be interpreted in the way the junta wants it. The junta will cheat all the way to the election to handicap political parties except those pro-military parties. Didn't Suthep went on a donation campaign in Bangkok recently?

Not sure but its crazy that parties can't get donations now.. they only have 5 months.. its time. I guess the junta needs all the advantages it can get.

Looks like FFF will not be in legal jeopardy as the order was not explicit on donations as a political act and the EC will send letters to inform of the new inclusion. Not sure how FFF will deal with the donations . Almost impossible to return the hundreds of donations. Maybe they just parked that with a charity Organisation. Sure it will disadvantage the parties especially the new and small parties. The incumbent big and mid-size parties will not be affected much.

I sincerely hope that Thai people understand the criminal activities of this Junta government and its suppression of the other parties will  be at the top of their minds come Election Day,

Zero votes for all the Junta cronies would be a real blessing for Thailand, Miracles do happen, Long Live Democracy..

Everyone hopes that, but you never know.  Some Thais will quickly say they do not like the military government while others give a coy smile, or worse they do not follow politics.    One lady at dinner thought Thailand was the cheapest place in Asia .  She was flabbergasted to find out wine in China, Hong Kong, Macao and Cambodia was much Cheaper than Thailand.  It is hard to put your finger on what people know and don't know here.  The unknowing, the uncaring, the down right dumb will favor the junta
