BANGKOK, 17 October 2018 (NNT) - A high pressure is expected to cause more rains over the upper parts of Thailand during 19-21 October 2018. 

The Meteorological Department's weather forecast division head Sugunyanee Yawinchan said the high pressure from China will prevail over the northern and northeastern regions, and the South China Sea while a monsoon trough has prevailed over the central, western, and southern regions since 2 October 2018 and has moved southerly to merge with a low pressure over the Gulf of Thailand very shortly. 

In addition, easterly winds will cover Thailand, causing the reduce of rains in the northern and northeastern regions. Other regions will however see more precipitation and heavy rains in some areas, especially the eastern and southern regions. 

Such weather conditions will cause more rains during 19-21 October 2018. Farmers are advised to be cautious of potential damage to their harvests in open areas. 

The rainy season in the upper parts of Thailand normally ends by mid-October. The country is yet to enter winter season as the temperature in more than 60% of the upper parts is falling below 23 degrees Celsius.

I can vouch for this information - we have just experienced the most horrendous storm near Chum Phae in Khon Kaen Province. Rain water was cascading off roofs like Niagara Falls, the strong winds blew over dustbins and shook satellite dishes, black skies and thunder and lightning "par excellence", flooded roads. It played havoc with the local traders setting up for today's "Walking Street" market (yes, we have them up here as well)

I was up in the North East last week and yes a very dry season up there.

Lots of thunder & lightening here in Udon, but no lain.
