Keira Knightley has banned her three-year-old daughter from watching Cinderella and The Little Mermaid because she doesn’t want her to grow up believing she needs to be “rescued” by a man.

 

Knightley, 33, revealed she is very particular when it comes to Edie’s viewing habits, but will let her watch modern Disney hits.

 

Speaking on The Ellen Show she said: “Cinderella – banned because she waits around for a rich guy to rescue her – don’t. Rescue yourself, obviously.

 

“This is the one I’m quite annoyed about because I love The Little Mermaid and the songs are great, but do not give your voice up for a man.”

Years back my Thai son banned his wife and daughters from watching Thai soapies.

 

The first couple of times his mother-in-law came to stay she insisted on watching the soaps, my son said NO and threatened to cut the plug off the electricity cord if he caught her again watching soaps in his house.

 

All attempts to explain to M-I-L why he banned, especially his daughters, from watching were a waste of time, she really didn't understand his reasons.

Thais never ever understand why they can't do what they want and have their own way all the while. More so than other cultures IME. 

 

But for someone to ban their daughter watching Cinderella because of feminist reasoning is a tad over the top! Bet she hates pantomimes! Another PC crazy.

This is interesting as when I went to the movies today, there was a preview for an upcoming Disney “Princess” film....starring Keira Knightley.  As long as she’s getting paid....

Whats the point ? If her daughter grows up to be a lesbian she will understand she can marry anyone. Her life will not be ruined watching an old Disney movie. Stupid.
