Deputy Premiers: Cannabis to be used for medical purposes

BANGKOK, 20th October 2018 (NNT) – Two deputy prime ministers of Thailand have confirmed that the legal use of marijuana in Thailand will be for medical purposes only. 

Commenting on the drafting of the medical marijuana bill, DPM ACM Prajin Jantong said the Office of the Narcotics Control Board has already completed the compilation of public feedback on the bill and submitted a report to the cabinet. 

The report will be forwarded to Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha for review he said, adding that Thailand has no intention of using illegal drugs in an unethical manner given its pledge to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime. 

ACM Prajin gave a strong assurance that marijuana will be used for medical purposes only. 

His view was mirrored by DPM Wissanu Krea-ngam who said the use of cannabis will be strictly monitored by doctors, experts, and professionals while ruling out the possibility of the psychoactive drug being used for other purposes.

If they monitor it the same way they do with antibiotics and other drugs openly sold by pharmacies, this country will become "stoners paradise".

It already does. No government should have the right to legislate peoples consciousness.

I'm sure everything will work out fine.

You'll most likely have to be on deaths door to get some,legally.

Amazing how’ve  my conservative Republican friends / acquaintances that are battling cancer and other medical issues are using this kind marijuana for medical problems-not as harsh as some manufacturered drugs from some chemical.

i was wondering same thing, where it will be comming from and if thais be able to get licences

So unclear about the process of prescription , dispensing and buying, how and from where? Will it be strictly under government or privately distributed/sold?

Knee pain, migraines, glaucoma, sleep issues. Where do I sign up for a prescription?  

I believe the farms and the profits will all be under the control of that well-known corporation dedicated to the well being of Thailand, the Royal Thai Army.

Those who manufacture, sell, and distribute glyphosate, and paraquat should have enough funds to dominate the market.

Nearly everything they have said about this is that initially it will be for research only & a comment from GPO it will be about 4 years before available for medical use

I guess it will be medical cannabis only? THC free? I read tons of info dedicated to the use of cannabidiol and cbd oil , and I must confess it's a really unique product. But I wouldn't like to see THC-marijuana in a free access, it is addictive and has multiple side effects.
