I've read the numerous forums over the past few years about obtaining 'Residence Certificate' but could any TV member advise (very recently) if Bangkok Immigration are still only issuing these only if you do 90 day reporting (which I don't do)?

I am selling my vehicle and I believe I require one of these but after looking at UK embassy appointments, it seems that there aren't any slots available until December which is far too late.....

Any ideas how to obtain certificate ASAP would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks

No change a Chaeng Wattana immigration. You have to be doing 90 day reports to them to get a certificate of residency.

Not sure a certificate of residency is needed to sell a car.

You do not need one to sell a car or bike, only to buy.

Thanks for your reply (and Joe).

It seems there is conflicting advice on this as in other opened forums on TV some guys had said you did require a CoR to sell car.  As luck would have it, the holiday today means the main Land Transport place in Bangkok is closed so will confirm tomorrow.

Thanks again.

Yes, the forum gets a lot of people trying to create confusion, or, perhaps with no knowledge of a topic, just wanting to make noise.  I have bought and sold a few bikes over the years and ever only needed the cert for the buying of one, though to make the transfer the sellers visa needs to be valid at the time - I have seen people buy a bike or car off a friend and then just use it without transferring it into their name because of the bother of getting the cert and when they finally did want to do the transfer were told can't be done because the visa of the seller had expired, and as the previous seller had left Thailand they had been stuck with a bike they could not transfer.  Ya, sounds strange to me too, but it is true.

When you say visa valid, could you clarify this please?  I entered Thailand in September on a Non-Multi O and am good until December to stay, however the Multi O Visa itself expired in October?

Thanks again.  Much appreciated.

If you are legal to stay here then you are fine.  Once you no longer have permission through extensions or a new visa then they will not do the transfer.

He means your permit to stay not visa.

Hi, just to confirm that you will need a residence certificate in Bangkok as seller of the car.  I confirmed this with the DLT earlier.

Now I am in the ridiculous situation of having a buyer for my car that I own in my name, registered to the address that I am at, and cannot get a Residence Certificate until December because this is the earliest appointment in the embassy and I cannot get one from Immigration because I don't do 90 day reporting.

Ive been to local Amphurs and they don't do it and also police stations but they all say Sathorn police may do it, so this will be a last resort.

Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.

You can also go to your embassy and they will give you a letter showing your address and that will do too.

Thanks for reply.  As mentioned though I can't get this letter from the embassy until December as this is the earliest appointment.  I phoned them earlier and can only hope for an early cancellation but won't bank on this.

Anyway, thanks for reply, much appreciated.

FYI, I was at Chaeng Wattana immigration last week (18 Oct) and taken by surprise when applying for Certificate of Residence..

After completing the paperwork with the Immigration Officer she said come back and pick it up in a month !!

When I got one 5-6 years ago, it was mailed to me and arrived in a week.  Apply well in advance.

As I needed a letter (in my case for 5 year Drivers License Renewal) and did not have a month to wait I've gotten

one from the US Embassy.  Can anyone tell me if the sworn affidavit from the Embassy requires translation, and

if it does does it also require verification from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs?
