CHIANG RAI, 30 October 2018 (NNT) – Cabinet ministers followed up on the Pracharat Internet program and welfare card scheme in the northern region in preparation for today’s (October 30) Cabinet retreat.

Minister of Industry Uttama Saowanayon traveled to Baan Santikiri , in Mae Fah Luang district of Chiang Rai, to meet with citizens taking part in its Creative Industry Village project. The community is a model for a joint enterprise and processes food as well as textiles, jewelry and coffee and tea, utilizing new technologies to improve operations and value.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice, ACM Prajin Junthong , checked up on the Ministry of Digital Economy’s Pracharat Internet program in Baan Saow Luang of Nan province, seeing progress being made on the national 20 year strategy. Pracharat Internet has been installed in 141 villages of Nan province and is used on average 120 times per month at each access point.

Today, the Cabinet retreat will take place at Rajabhat Chiang Rai University and will be preceded by an economic and social development meeting for Upper Northern Region 2, which comprises Chiang Rai, Nan, Phayao and Phrae, chaired by the Prime Minister. Cabinet ministers will present the meeting with information they gathered from inspections carried out in the lead up to the meeting and will include enhancement of tourism via Chiang Rai’s borders and at Tham Luang-Khun Nam Nang Non National Park and herbal innovations, including an improved system of validation by the Food and Drug Administration.
