It's official! Beer on tap cannot be sold at 7/11s from today

It is now officially illegal for draught beer to be sold at convenience stores.

In a widely expected move following earlier complaints and moves by the authorities the Government Gazette published yesterday said that dispensing of beer via machines at convenience stores is prohibited.

There were fears over the availability of alcohol to children and young people as well as the perceived threats to society, families and the economy, reported Sanook.

It was also felt that having beer on tap would add to crime and road accidents.

Hey, that must be the most clever and arrogant comment ever. he of course meant he haven´t seen one shop that have. Actually I have not seen one too. And that must be because they didn´t sell long time, and not many 7/11 had it. It was just in a test stage.

That's because you didn't go into a 7/11 that had one during the short testing stage.

If you had, you probably would have seen one.

Yeah, but now it is official.  They nipped that non problem long before it became a problem.   The junta must  be working on all sorts of things that are not a problem, so they won't be a problem.   This might be why they have not been able to show any progress over last four years.  The junta works in mysterious.

They're great at what they do, ain't they?

Nothing [absolutely nothing] up their sleeves.

Manipulated distractions.

A few weeks ago I was in Singapore drinking at 7-11's terrace. And that's supposed to be the stuck up place in ASEAN, eh?

And?

As opposed to the sale of it in cans and bottles in the exact same shop doesn't cause any of the above?

Since when was fear, particularly Government fear, rational? ????????

I think he's trying to say that Prostitution, gambling, and 24 hour drinking are legal in Singapore, but not here.  They are however, all much cheaper here, even if you get caught!

Don't become obsessively dependent on seven and allowing trivial issues to be a life guiding portal.

Get over yourselves.

Problem solved.

What next?  It's official, elephants can not sold at 7/11s starting next week?

You can, if you have the relevant licence. It may involve a long distance trunk call to sort it out though.

I have never seen a 7/11 selling beer on tap. Just heard the news from last year that some 7/11s were experimenting for a few days. It would've been a great idea, but unfortunatley it can't. I would be happy if they had specialised shops that sell various beer on tap as it is in European countries.

Agreed. That is backward thinking from Thai government.

I would love to see some affordable IPA. I am not willing to pay 200 Baht for a pint.

I was in that "stuck up" place Singapore this last weekend shopping for foodstuffs that cost a 1/3 of the price compared to Thailand, rest assured there are no monopoly's here ????

What kind of foodstuffs cost only 1/3 of price in sg i wonder? I read that its the most expensive city in the world.
