Tony Clifton Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 There's a small article in the Bangkok Post today by some political commentator who reckons that Somkid has played a 'blinder' by the manner of his resignation (which will endear him to most who think 'Thai-way') and has set up himself well on course to be the next Prime Minister. That would apparently send some members of this forum ballistic! ...and some Thai watchdogs nuclear.

That is an interesting comment. If Somkid can avoid going down in any of the ongoing investigations, which is quite likely if he is trusted by the current government he could well be a rising star although he needs to get over the rumors of his ill health first and the cowardice/traitor labels he draws from anti-and pro Thaksin people before he could probably become PM. I am quite sure Mr. Banharn is smiling again after this resignation as he obviously sees himself as the next elected Thai PM for some bizarre reason.
