This years Blackberry and Raspberry setup

I had a nice setup of Raspberries last year but lost them all in a flood. The Blackberry varieties I grew in the past were from the UK and never fruited so this year I am growing US varieties Prime Traveler and Prime Freedom. Let's hope I get a few nice berries out of this lot.....

I'm interested to know what are you using to pin down the edges of the plastic mulch?

Are you going to plant strawberries in the middle beds?

I will try to take some shots of the 'pins' and post them in here.

Yes, those rows were reserved for our international varieties of strawberries which we keep separate from the Royal 80's. Two varieties of British, 1 x Japanese and 1 x Spanish. They will get shade covering before March as some of the international varieties carry on fruiting into June and July.

Nice, DF....

Do you grow enough to market the berries or is the intention for family use?

Cheers!!

We have planted around 6000 strawberry plants, so yes, they are commercial quantity. I think we only have around 50-70 blackberry and a similar number of raspberry plants so we are just dipping our toes into growing them commercially.

Hello

a very nice setup.

do you know how quickly the sun breaks the plastic into small pieces or is the plastic UV protected.

how do you give them water and nutrition, do you have a dripline or sprinkeler?

a tip
make sure the leaf dries well, otherwise you have to spray a lot to kill the fungi

good luck with the blackberry plants

Regards

The plastic has UV protection and can last a couple of years or more. I have a fertigation system with my nutrient solution split between two tanks (A and B). This is mixed with water and sent out to the plants around 8am and again around 5pm. Water is sent out every 3 or 4 hours in between depending on the weather conditions each day. Thanks for the tip ;-)
