I don't know if I can go through entering all the banks again soon, but if nobody else does, i will try again.

SCB is by far the best bank in Thailand. Of course, I am biased; it's where I met my wife 5 years ago, working in the Hua Hin branch!

Yes do the poll again and include the government banks as well ! Good list of banks - but some of them have little to do with the man on the street - ie JPMorgan (well as far as i am aware - perhaps I'm not rich enough)

regardless my vote is with kasikorn !

But government savings bank give the best return on deposits currently according to Topfield !

Perhaps there should be a seperate poll on the delectible staff of a particular bank (given the last post) - well in that case it would have to be Krung Thai bank - but which branch ? Heres a clue - Khon Kaen...

Opening an account is easy so long as you bear in mind the following :

* Dress well

* Be polite

* Be prepared to make a big deposit - can be withdrawn soon after

* If turned down, keep on trying

I've had 7 thai bank accounts and never had a work permit. Its down to the person you deal with and their superiors. Having a good story for wanting the account helps. But if you promise something you should deliver on it or face having your account closed !
