Wheatgerm

Featured Replies

I am trying to make some Hovis style bread and one of the ingredients is wheatgerm.

I live in rural Khampaeng Phet and I have been to BigC, Makro, Tops, a couple of health food shops and the guy I use for most of my bread and bakery supplies but nobody has any. I did a translate of wheatgerm into Thai and it came out as wheatgerm.

I am also looking for ground ginger to make a ginger cake and I cannot find that up here either.

Can anyone help me please.

Last time I was in Makro (Chon Buri) looking round the fresh bread section I came across wheatgerm flour in amongst the cake pre-mixes. Don't know if the layouts are similar but try that section. They had white flour in the main aisles but not wheatgerm.

Thanks for the info.

My local Makro 65 km away in Khampaeng Phet doesn't stock it, neither does BigC or Tops.

Perhaps they may have it up in Phitsanulok but that is 180 km and a 3 hour trip each way, It would be a pain to get there and find that nobody has it in stock at any of the bigger markets up there.

Perhaps I will go up there in the New Year.

I can't help you with wheatgerm but I can about ground ginger.

I make my own. Buy some ginger from the market. Slice it up into small pieces. Sun dry for a day or 2. Put in a grinder and there you have it.
