Chiang Mai Recommended Arrival Time for Retirement Annual Extns Update Please

My wife and I plan to do the business tomorrow.  We visited the office about 10 days ago and spoke to the senior officer on the Information desk who advised to turn up at "normal time" but would not elaborate.  Presumably he was spouting the new mantra following the bad press and Big Joke's intervention.  All delivered with the inscrutable smile of course.

Can anyone share the recent state of play?  As ever, we don't want a very early and wasted journey into town, but we also don't want to be told to come back tomorrow.  Thanks in anticipation.

I don't know about a proper time but I went there yesterday morning to do my 90-day report and we showed up at 6:30 a.m. and they were already open and giving Q numbers out but I don't know if that is just for that or if you have to go to a different building but the point is is Chiang Mai immigration was up and running at 6:30 yesterday morning.
