Pursat provincial authorities on Wednesday launched a crackdown on ten locations in Bakan district where marijuana was being grown illegally. Officials discovered more than 3,000 plants and 24 kilograms of dried marijuana on Trong Kla mountain in the district’s Talor commune.

District police chief Neang Vuth said yesterday that about 25 police officers took part in the operation, adding that they destroyed 3,560 plants and the dried marijuana. “I appeal to villagers to stop planting marijuana because it is illegal,” he said. “Please also do not plant it on behalf of brokers who offer money.”

Rong Sovannreoung, commune police chief, said they suspect that a person named Vy planted the marijuana on the mountain and has now fled the village. “The suspect came from Takeo province recently to stay in the commune,” he said. “He hired land from the villagers to plant the crop and now he has disappeared. We are looking for him.”

They should have sent/sold it to the Thai government to be used when Medical Cannabis is legalized in Thailand. Thailand should start stocking up. They will not want shortages before the election. :stoner:

I was in Cambodia for two years 95-97 - it was not illegal to buy or smoke Ganja, it was only illegal to grow it!!  Go figure that one out.  You could buy lbs of it in the Russian market (kinda low grade so I am told) :whistling: :whistling: :whistling: :whistling:   Two Aussies tried to start a Hemp Farm to make clothes, rope rattan furniture etc etc etc  -  somehow female plants got mixed in with the males and Uh Oh!!  They got busted.
