Heavy rains to stay at six southern provinces

By The Nation

Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani, Ranong, Phangnga and Phuket will continue to be hit by heavy rains throughout Saturday, the Meteorological Department said.

In the warning issued at 5am on Saturday, the department said an active low-pressure cell is covering the Andaman Sea near Nicobar Islands, and the active northeast monsoon still prevails across the Gulf, resulting in torrential downpours in the six provinces.

Also, thundershowers will be possible for the North, the Northeast, the East and the Central regions, including Bangkok and its vicinity, the department added.

Rough seas with two to three-metre-high waves will be likely in the Gulf and the Andaman Sea throughout the day.
