Verification Letter needed for Australian Passport Renewal

Running low on pages. Need a new Australian Passport. Going to Chiang Mai Outreach this week to do it.

 

I cannot remember if I need for Thai Immigration a Verification Letter from the Embassy saying something like my passport was canceled and this is my new passport? I remember reading something like this a long while back and I am not sure if this is true.

Immigration do usually require a letter from the passport agency that have issued a new passport. The passport agency should automatically issue you with a letter when they issue the new passport.

The Australian embassy does not issue a letter. They only do a stamp in the new passport stating it replaced passport number xxxxxxx. I think most immigration offices are now familiar with it by now.
