TAT launches special privileges campaign for tourists

BANGKOK, 16 November 2018 (NNT) - The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has launched a special privileges campaign for tourists during the ending part of the year. 

TAT Governor Yuthasak Soophasorn revealed the TAT has joined hands with private partners to introduce the Amazing Thailand Grand Sale "Passport Privileges" campaign to boost spending of the tourists by providing discounts and other privileges during 15 November 2018 - 15 January 2019. 

Under the campaign, all tourists can show their passport at participating stores in Bangkok to be given special discounts or souvenirs. 

The TAT has also brought in FAM trips from South East Asia, East Asia, and South Asia to enjoy their visit and shopping experiences in Thailand, he said. 

The campaign is expected to help stimulate the spending of the tourists as high season is approaching as well as create a livelier tourism atmosphere in the country. 

No less than 20 billion baht in revenue is expected during the two-month-long campaign.

where said shops has already jacked up their prices to offset the "discount"... been there, done that TAT...

Thai's have trouble planning more than a day or two ahead. These tourists decided MONTHS ago to come and a few trinkets won't entice any more visitors.

They're probably all at Branson, Missouri where they can shop till they drop at the malls there and actually find some amazing bargain-basement deals on products that they probably produced themselves in their home country.

Once again all talk and no substance.Which stores are participating ?what are the discounts ? what are the "other privileges?.Totally meaningless promotion which gives no information and where are they advertising this,TV? Newspapers? TAT website?.The promotion started 2 days ago!!!!!

I just get this feeling that Yingluck had a much better immigration policy than the clowns in green.  She also had more dignity.  Too bad she also suffered from not knowing right from wrong.  She could have done nothing and Thailand would be better off than it is now. 

 

This is all being done for the junta to save face.  They are so pathetic.

Charging all tourists the 'Thai rate' to enter national parks would be a start, or how about using a median between farang and Thai pricing, for all humanity?

Priorities and strategies out of whack

It will never be a high end tourist destination-there is no will or coherent long term strategy

At our local market yesterday they had a special on reular price 2 kg for 40 baht or a special price of 5 kg for 100 baht.  A real bargain!  I wonder how many people bought the 5 kg special?

There  bloody  well are, went for a massage yesterday with a friend whose on holiday, we were the only two in there until two Chinese walked in......both on their phones and speaking loudly all thru their masssage, after 10  minutes I told em to <deleted> to the joy of the staff.

Ive usually  find  they have no idea its rude and will be quiet if told

The girls said later many Chinese like this and they didnt like it but true  Thai style would never say anything.

All the bargains I get these days are through online shopping, except in Thailand where the tax ruins the deal.
