Christmas in Thailand - location ideas welcome for December 18th to 27th (for Christmas) and December 27th to January 4th (for New years)

Finally booked my first week of 2-3 months in Thailand! ????

It's December 11th to 18th in Bangkok and then I'm open to ideas but don't want to leave it too late as it's a very busy time of year for hotels and flights

Where is good for a week over Christmas in Thailand and then a week that includes New Years Eve?

I like Cafe Mambo (Ibiza) style beach bars so this kind of thing would be great in general for either week. Bophut in Samui has a beach club called Coco I believe is very like this

Me: 33, male, traveling solo for the most part, up for the craic but not a huge drinker, love beaches but fond of city vibes ala New York too (I've heard Bangkok described as a "grittier New York but just as good)

Not a fan of: snorkeling, watersports, hiking or rowdy drunken idiots (so I think Patong is definitely off the list)

I can work out my January and February itinerary once I know I have December 18th to about January 4th covered

Cheers

Thai all head home for New Years that is why there us a que of cars from Bangkok across the country. Last year it was cold and quiet in Jomethian before Xmas. Chaing Mai is quiet but the sky is amazing for New Years.

Maggie Cho’s in Bkk or maybe a pool party sonwhere. And amazing beach bar with pool in Koh Lipe but I have not been there when it’s busy.

I akways watch the TV kicking myself that I am not I. Another country like Australia or China at Bew Yeara

Any more feedback?

What about Krabi, not a huge night life but there are a couple of bar/restaraunts you might like, or even Hua Hin boring beach but there are plenty of restaraunts bars etc. Not as sleazy as Patong or Pattaya (where it is mainly comprised of geriatics on viagra.

Plenty of beach bars in Bangkok lol. Personally I hate Bangkok but like Pattaya. There are beaches on the coast outside Pattaya so its not all just nightlife. If you want action it has to be Pattaya Phuket or Bangkok. By the way only the farlang (foreigners) celebrate christmas, its not really a big deal over here. So if its why you are coming you will be disappointed.

I will be bored .... in Thailand ? ????

Yeah dude it sucks. Yesterday I saw the storms clouds gathering, so I bagged my plans and did the laundry, read a book, had a nice breakfast and lunch. Took a nap while it rained, fiddled on TVF, edited some pics, played with my camera, chatted with girls on Line and TF, took a cool shower, took the BTS and went to a camera store, took the BTS and checked out some talent in Sukonit Road, had a nice pizza, burped, ate a mango, had a few drinks in Nana, worked a potential gogo girl, played butt slap with a Mamasan, talked to the worm guy, got on the BTS, got off at Saphan Taksin, looked at the river while drinking a beer, got back on the BTS for last train and home.

<deleted> boring.
