The law was changed to allow 'political' crimes to be heard in absentia.   It was done specifically for the Shins as they really annoyed the 'Elite' by winning every election this century.

This is shocking and unexpected news.

  • They should've never given this case to the inactive post department.

I don't think this comes as a surprise to anyone. Obviously people were paid to ignore it and are probably still getting regular payments to keep it that way. I suspect that if anyone did actually try

He could be put on trial he could be sentenced to life he could then be set free on bail.

He could also be put on trial In absence, like two others I have heard of.

OMG - that is terrible.
Is this at all possible in Thailand?!?!

Its rather strange, police always claimed its up to prosecutor to take it further and prosecutor puts it back on police to take it further.

No doubt both sides have been rewarded, but when and how is this all going to end?

..... and we're off. Cue another ten pages of thaigeezers wailing, ripping their clothes asunder and beating their chests to no avail. Get over it.

Money talks!!

How is it going to end? I have a feeling it ended a long time ago with the required donations.

Don't want to upset the current plutocracy by arresting a rich person for the mere murder of a cop.  After all, other rich folk could be next.  One bright spot though, maybe the "Boss" is approaching being bilingual and has stopped picking his nose in England.

You know he paid the police handsomely to be left alone.

This is why he's not in prison for murder.

Looking at it with a dispassionate and somewhat cynical eye, the majority of people are probably better off this way. A lot of people got paid off and I'm assuming the dead cop's family got paid off. I hope, handsomely. Where would they be and what would their benefit be if they simply arrested Boss and threw him away. He would have been paroled or pardoned and set free anyway and nobody would have gotten a single baht.

It sucks, but it's Thailand. And Boss can't come home and that is probably punishment enough for him. You know how these people are. You can move the average Thai out of a dungheap and into Buckingham Palace and sooner or later they'd miss the dungheap and their village.

The Tory manifesto rich fleeing crims are welcome to join us????

The key to understanding the lack of effort, progress, or success in finding this murderous young man, is in knowing a few things:

1. The current administration was installed to protect the elite, the powerful, those in office, those that are well connected, and the super wealthy. They have been very successful in fulfilling that mission.

2. The police are not law enforcement officials. They are franchisees.

3. Thailand has long had a system of impunity for the super wealthy. They are above the law. Any and all laws, including the army.

4. No effort was ever made. Anything to the contrary was a smoke screen, and a fabrication.

The previous administration was installed to protect a different group of elites. So they were no more interested in this case than the current government.

The son and heir apparent of one of the richest men in Thailand. Did anyone really expect anything different?

They'll convince themselves that exile until the statute of limitations runs out is punishment enough. And then he'll come back and they'll suppress media interest and hope people just forget about it and loose interest.

Just like all the other examples.

Perhaps someone could install another bell, christen it "Boss" and ring it every five minutes instead of hourly. That should help things moving.

money talks, money walks.

Just goes to show what a bunch of despicable and spineless morons the brown clowns are. Don't even have the gonads to fight for/defend one of their own. And another underline for the phrase 'money and elitism buys everything'.

new demands are being made via letter for the Thai police to act

a letter, ... that's some heavy artillery right there

Thonglor Police Station is at the centre of the investigation. Millions of Baht has been spent in the effort to ignore his location find him

That's apparently not quite true, since right after the killing of the Thonglor cop it was reported that a police colonel (incidentally also from the Thonglor cop shop) went to the Red Calf's house to advise him on courses of action...

If this is true, then there was actually some pro-activity on behalf of the 'public guardians'

Since then, though, it's been quiet...

This is in fact non of our business because the international communities are watching!

Of course the police have done nothing, after they received several million baht in large brown holdalls, they just sat back and did nothing.

“Done nothing? You must be joking! At the office of inactive posts (accounting dept.) we were busy for weeks to count all the donation money.”

Interesting that they've never assigned Big Joke to the case. I guess that supports the argument that there really is no interest in bringing Boss home to face the music.

Big Joke would be Big Paid if he took on this case.

In other news, water is wet.

It will end the same time the lunch boxes stop being delivered and that will be when the statute of limitations has expired - very simple, no complications, everyone understands the rules.

So just what does the Thai public have to do to get this complete disregard of justice for a policeman reversed and actioned. We all know why he hasn't been brought to book and it is to the Royal Thai Police Force's shame that after one of their own was killed nothing has been done to bring justice for his family. Perhaps the title Royal should be removed from them. Shameful!

5 minutes after it happened another thai man claimed he was the driver....what happened to him?

He has given an affidavit to the Thai court and is now living a life of luxury in the South of France, address unknown.????

How can it be the Public Prosecutor's duty to detain the culprit? If I kill someone on the street will the police not arrest me without permission from the Public Prosecutor? Balderdash!!????

be fair, it wasn't so much an envelope as an enormous parcel.
