MPs' chauffeurs caught 'gambling'

BANGKOK: --Eleven chauffeurs of government and opposition MPs were rounded up at parliament on gambling charges while their bosses were attending censure debate in the House chamber yesterday.

Plainclothes policemen raided the second floor of the parliament parking lot to arrest the group for allegedly playing cards. The suspected gamblers included people who had driven cars for Deputy Prime Minister Suchart Jaovisidha, Democrat deputy secretary-general Suthep Thuagsuban, Democrat spokesman Ong-art Klampaiboon and other Thai Rak Thai and Democrat MPs.

Akom Watanapan, chief of the parliament's security division, said the gamblers did not heed a warning.

This is another farce to add to the list, so why didn't they invite more chauffer's to gamble then?

Gambling appears to part and parcel of everyday life in the Kingdom as life is short of any creture comfort's.

It may be gambling, it may be drinking or just plain tom foolery on motorcycles, in my opinion it will never stop...

Thaimee. [Can't you buy Cards in 7-eleven for say 200-300 baht anyway's?] :o
