Work Permit And Tax Issue

Featured Replies

I would appreciate any advise regarding my current situation!

I have been working "under the table" in Thailand for the past six years.

I had an actual work permit my first year here and a subsequent work permit for the year 2006. Both were teaching jobs at Universities. Currently am in the process of coverting a non-B visa to a work permit, as I am being sponsored by a legitimate company for full-time employment. (non-teaching position). The company lawyer informed me I must present tax documents to the Revenue department. (to process the work permit). Here is my concern! Not having documented proof of income while in Thailand- in terms of tax payments-- What might I expect? Back taxes and penalty? Any way to circumvent? My passport obviously includes a record of my time in Thailand? Am an American citizen. Please offer some suggestions! Thank you

They are looking for the PND #90( annual withholding tax) which is filed in March. If you applied for this now in Feb, this should not be a issue until later in the year when you get a extension.

I surmise you turned in your work permit in 2006. You will be liable for tax ( if any) from the time you applied in 2006 till it was terminated.
