BANGKOK, 23 November 2018 (NNT) - The campaign to promote tourism in 55 secondary provinces has created a hype among tourists, making the less-visited cities tourism still in trend for next year, said the Tourism Authority of Thailand's (TAT) Deputy Governor for Domestic Marketing Noppadon Pakprot.

He said the TAT's campaign to introduce tourists to less popular cities in 55 provinces has been successful, and will continue to raise the demands for local travels throughout next year.

The TAT's campaign, which can distribute more tourism revenue to local cities and grassroots economy, offers travelers to use spending on domestic travels as a tax deductible for up to 15,000 baht. The campaign will be valid until 31 December 2018.

The deputy TAT governor said the campaign has lured tourists who wished to escape big cities and have new experiences in less-visited cities, while the waiver to the Visa on Arrival fee will stimulate travels by foreign visitors during the New Year holiday.

TAT has anticipated the number of tourists during the New Year holiday to increase by 10% from last year.
