Suspected Islamic State gunmen kill six in southern Libya

BENGHAZI, Libya (Reuters) - Gunmen on Friday raided a town deep in Libya's southern desert, killing six, the municipality said, adding that it believed the militant group Islamic State was responsible.

A military source said the attackers had occupied a police station in the oasis town of Tazerbo, north of Kufra, until residents expelled them. The source also said the attackers were believed to belong to Islamic State.

The town - which was a resting point for tourists going on Sahara camping tours before Libya plunged into chaos in 2011 - listed six residents on its website as having been killed.

Islamic State has staged several attacks on southern towns since withdrawing into the desert after losing its main stronghold, the coastal city of Sirte, in 2016.

It is very likely that the vast majority of Lybians were happier in Gadafi's time and less in danger in their everyday life than today.

And dare I say... probably the same in Irak

Having worked in both, they were certainly considered far safer and simple things like running water and 24/7 electric were available under both regimes. That said, in Kurdish northern Iraq, the people would rather have no electricity than return to a Saddam-like dictator.

A lack of electricity that's all? :cheesy:

It's a lack of everything and not only for the Kurds... but no more weapons of mass destruction the US citizen can live in peace now!

Here is a picture of a certain type of lack of electricity

The Kurds are not lacking generally. And I say this as I’ve lived in Kurdistan for the past 4 years.

The west opened Pandora’s box when they initiated regime change.

Therefore the west is responsible for the chaos that followed and should take a large measure of responsibility for the rebuilding of those societies their bombs and bullets destroyed.
