Think about it.  The U.S. embassy income affidavit was never the "evidence of income" that the Thia immigration bureau regulations required.  It was something the U.S. citizen filled out and signed.  The embassy simply notarized the signature, i.e., verified that the person signing it was the person whose name was on it.  It in no way ever verified the contents, i.e., the amount of income it claimed.   It is astounding to me that TI ever accepted it.  But they did accept it, in fact required it, and life was easy for a while.  Now that's changed and people want to blame someone:  the embassy, TI, folks who lied about their income.... etc.  Better to just be happy that for a while folks had it easier than it ever had a right to be. 

Sure, TI now needs to make it crystal clear, officially and ASAP, what will be acceptable evidence beginning next year.  No doubt.  But there's no sense crying over spilled milk that had to spill eventually anyway.
