Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha will chair a meeting this Friday with representatives of the so-called “Five Rivers”, the Election Commission and political parties at the Army Club to discuss issues related to the February 24 election.

High on the agenda is expected to be the lifting of political  restrictions to allow parties to launch election campaigns.

Spokeswoman of the National Council for Peace and Order Colonel Sirichan Nga-thong said Monday that altogether about 280 participants will attend the meeting.

He could NOT look more phony. Probably thinking to himself, "I'll never get the stink of these people off my clothes."

He describes himself as an 'Isaan son' who is there to 'work for the people'. What nauseating nonsense.

But by the look of the women in the photo, they lap it all up. That woman on the far left in the pink shirt, who is almost pushing her way forward to be close to her god, could not be more radiant to be in The Presence.

Pathetic - the whole bunch of them. Well, they will have time enough to enjoy their continued serfdom and servitude next year and beyond ...

Welcome to the one horse racing party????

Political parties will be lucky to get 30 days to campaign as General Niyom tours the county-side handing out trinkets to the masses from the coffers of the country's treasury.

I like the analogy.  Let's modify it.

12 horse race.  The General gets the inside track and his gate opens 1 minute before all the other horse are allowed out of their gates.

Phue Thai, Thai Raksa and Future Forward will be applauded for boycotting this meeting. A small but significant protest of Prayut chairing the meeting rather than the EC. Just when does this military meddling in the election ceased. Already a highly controversial election and a further erosion of independence of agencies. What next? Troops at all polling stations?

Why this guy has to stand on a soapbox for every photo shoot.

Does he have some authority issues?  Oh wait don't answer that one

For a guy that is 175cm tall.... his handlers have him portrayed as gargantuan (as demanded....or else).   How tall was Napoleon?

Did you ever see the sick adoration for the Thaksin breed?

Yes, quite possibly. There to 'facilitate', of course, and ensure public safety....

Probably why Thaksin won elections, whilst Prayuth did not receive a single vote from the Thai electorate. Partly the reason why the competition in this election still cannot freely campaign, even with those election just around the corner.

Eric, no troops at polling stations, they will however count the votes in the 60 days after the election, as the EC lacks the hands ????

I am told by a well-educated Thai scholar that there WILL be soldiers present at the polling booths.

We shall see. In any case, as you say, the junta (and junta-controlled slaves) will be the ones who count the votes - and that is what 'counts' (forgive the pun!).

They have already started the process in the USA, and there will s 2 years until the election ????

All part of campaigning....oh...not time yet. Must be part of the job.
