BANGKOK, 6th December 2018 (NNT) – The Metropolitan Police Bureau and the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) will temporarily close the Lam Sali flyover to make way for the construction of an underground station on the MRTA's Orange Line in Bangkok.

Pattanaphong Phongsupatsamit, MRTA's executive director for construction, said the inbound section of the flyover will be closed for 12 months to facilitate the construction.

Mr. Pattanaphong said the closure will start on December 7th, 2018, and the flyover will be reopened to traffic after the construction is completed.

The work on Lam Sali station is part of the MRT Orange Line's eastern route project, which connects the Thailand Cultural Center and Min Buri.

The Deputy Commissioner-General of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, Pol. Maj. Gen. Jirasan Kaewsaengake, said one of the lanes on the outbound section of the Lam Sali intersection will remain open following the closure.

He said traffic police will be monitoring traffic congestion in the area, and motorists will be informed of the detours they can take to avoid congestion.
