webfact
NLA confirms its adherence to rule of law BANGKOK, 10th November 2018 (NNT) – The head of the Thai National Legislative Assembly (NLA), Pornpetch Wichitcholchai, has assured the public of the legislature’s commitment to following the rule of law. Speaking about the NLA’s 4-year performance, Pornpetch said all the acts the legislature has drafted and endorsed are intended to protect the interests of the nation and its people while the lawmakers have always abided by the rule of law. He noted that the legislature serves as one of the three branches of government and keeps the other two branches – the administration and the judiciary – unfettered, which he is confident the NLA has been doing for the past four years. The NLA acts as both the upper and lower houses, he said, adding that the incumbent legislators have passed more than 300 acts since taking office, many of which were designed to form strong fundamentals for future development as well as eradicate social disparities. Despite the fact that the NLA is one of the “five rivers of reform,” the president gave a strong assurance that the legislature carries out its tasks independently without any forms of intervention or manipulation by any interest. -- nnt 2018-12-

Wonder what the average Thai thinks ? Sounds like an interesting poll question: What do you think about the NLA ? Most Thais I know do not have any faith in this government. They just submit. The fact that this guy feels it necessary to appeal for trust is, in and of itself, ample reason for mistrust.

Laws that they conveniently make up - for/by themselves. Actually, it's all too easy. Whatever benefits them, becomes mandated law.
