The Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand has said that 5,000 people have gone online to register drones at their website.

Chula Sukmanop of the CAAT hopes that people will only need to wait 15 days to get the required licenses.

He said further that the CAAT was in consultation with the Telecoms Ministry and outside organisations to implement international standards when it come to drone usage.

The regulations particularly relate to the height drones are allowed to fly.

They asked everyone to register their drones while at the same time can’t put up with all the work they have committed to, since it took almost two months for me to get one. I have heard others had to wait up to 4-6 months. Why even have licenses to start with? Just regulate the drones and we are all set,. There’s not need for a photographer or a videographer to require an NBTC nor the CAAT licenses to fly a few minutes and capture moments. They should just follow the EU regulatory framework as well as the limits for the drone usage. Lastly, why is even NBTC in all of this? What has NBTC to do with flying drones to begin with? On their website you find practically ZERO information regarding drone usage and how to acquire a license. Besides, the offices are also not available in all sub-districts throughout the country making it a headache for tourists to get licenses. Scrap the licenses!

God forbid that anyone might like to do something creative and as harmless as taking some video from the air in this place. And why post a picture of that huge 10 year old drone? The latest ones are the size of an i phone.

God forbid that someone might like to do something not so harmless, like dropping a bomb in the middle of a crowd.

But apart from that, if you don't bother that your privacy might be intruded on, then that's your problem.

I can show you some very clear videos taken on request by a drone, and while obviously knowing the drone was there and filming, it was impossible to spot or hear it.
