Burglary May Be An Inside Job

On the 17th of February at 11.30pm Dongtan Police were informed that there was a burglary at a house in View Point Village on Soi Chaiyapruek in Jomtien.

Police arrived to the scene at a two storey luxury house on 1 rai of land to find Americans, Mr. William Robert Moore, aged 43 and his wife Mrs. Mahara Moore, aged 47.

After checking around the house Police found that thieves had broken into the house from sliding a window near the kitchen.

The rooms upstairs were ransacked and Police were told that the burglar took away a computer note book, a computer game player, one set of diamonds and two mobile phones, all totaling 300,000 Baht.

The couple told Police that they went out for dinner at 8pm and returned home to find their house was burgled.

The security guard of the village told Police that a Thai man was seen parking a motorbike in front of the house before going inside. He thought that the man may be a friend of the owner of the house.

Later the said man rode back with a full bag but the license plate of the bike had been recorded at the security book.

He realized that the said man was a burglar when a couple went to see him and reported that their house had been burgled.

The couple suspected that the thief may know their maid who opened the sliding window for the thief as here was no sign of a break in into the locked rooms upstairs which assumed that the thief may have spare keys and all valuables may not have been placed in one bag.

The maid of the house will be called for questioning and further investigation continues.
