There's research, and there's empirical evidence. I don't know about other countries, in Thailand it goes like this: Boy gets girl pregnant in the village, does a runner. After the child is born, support is needed for mother and child/ She can stay in the village and earn 200 baht a day, or go to Bangkok or Pattaya and earn much more while grandparents care for the child. Most of the good-looking ones take option 2. If you have ever sat in a bar, you would know the lady drinks customers purchase for them are non-alcoholic, unless the customer insists the lady drink is alcoholic too.
