Nong Nooch

Agree with Johpa - the nickname is common.

I have seen bearers of the name use both Nuch and Nooch when writing it in Roman letters, but never Nut even though that is what an AUA/Haas transcription fan such as Sir J and myself would prefer.

Perhaps the most unambiguous way to write it in English would be /Nood/ or /Noot/ though, seeing as 'nut' is a word with its own pronunciation.

The ช 'ch' is pronounced like a silent 't' or 'd' according to the Thai phonetic rules, but most Thais will still represent ช with 'ch' instead of 'd' or 't' when writing their name in Roman letters - even though this means the name will not be pronounced as in the original Thai.
