Regarding the News in the Pattaya Mail (XXV1 -50 ) that Pattaya City will FINALLY do something about the terrible condition of the Dirt/Grassed Play area in Pattaya City No.8 school, (the one is right in the centre of South Pattaya.)

Before they do anything they should STOP using the area as a CAR PARK, and periodic Market place, with stalls and and  tents being pitched all over it, the associated truck/pickups bringing the goods often turning the place into a quagmire when it rains.

I have even seen cars parked on the VERY small area of artificial Grass Futsal pitch.

May I suggest that the outer perimeter of the area be paved with coloured interlocking paving stones, sufficiently wide to allow cars to be parked at an angle, reverse out, and carry on around the ground and exit. A One foot high Curb stone being put in place to stop any vehicle entering the grassed area.

Parking would  be charged BUT……only be allowed from 6pm to 5am in the early morning, from 5am to 6am a private company would be contracted to remove any vehicles left parked, they would recover their costs by charging the violators.

By 6am the outer paved area should be all cleared, ready for the kids.

This paved area would be available to all the children in all weathers to run around and get some exercise on. Currently if the Dirt/grassed is wet they have nowhere to play on as it quickly becomes a quagmire.

The central area would be re-grassed; the cost of the change should be paid for by Pattaya City,

But ….. The money from the Car parking should be used to maintain the area, YES “maintain” as there are too many Pattaya projects that are started but there is no budget for maintenance therefore they quickly revert to their previous state and become an eyesore.

With a little bit of thought this school could have a great play ground for all the kids, an evening /weekend Parking area and a pleasant green area which would enhance the centre of South Pattaya, which is good for locals and tourists alike.
