When you get the new passport just go to your banks and have them record the changes as needed and anywhere else that uses the passport number for a account.

As written above: go to the bank with both passports.

If you have internet access to the account, make sure that they fix this too.

When I changed passport number at SCB the internet access was blocked and it took four days (!) until "boss" was present to fix it.

At Bangkok Bank it was a one hour session with three "experts" and having to log on to my internet banking on one of their age old PCs. I hated that

"land office"? Do you mean the DLT (Department of Land Transport, driving license etc.)?

I didn't care about them and didn't notice a problem when extending the driving license.

Immigration is a separate topic (if you live on a one year extension).

I just also ran into a problem signing up for an account with TRUE that will allow me to pay my internet bill online.  Passport # was part of the online application and it kept being rejected.  I finally realized I had changed passports a year ago and they still had my prior number.  I entered that number and the application went right through.  I will soon visit a True office and update the info.

It might also cause a problem at a mobile service provider if your current SIM is registered under your old PP # and you need to replace it or modify your service.

Best to keep the old PP handy for such situations.
