There is the chance of a police or immigration checkpoint anytime/anywhere.

On that route it would only be police checkpoints and those mostly are looking for drunk drivers during the 7 dangerous days.

Immigration will be found on routes to border crossings.

why, something to hide?

I used to do that trip a lot and can never recall having police board the bus. That said, quite often got stopped by traffic police when driving. Usually some trumped up BS to get a bung!

Army and police checkpoint at the main junction when arriving from Wang Nam Khiao on the way to Kabinburi.
