I'm a US citizen, 70y old.

Current visa is non-o, retirement extension 1year, exp. 15.Feb19

Will Konsulat Savannakhet issue Non-0 single? ( no more US affidavit possible )

I will be in Isan during the new year holiday, can easily drive to Laos and like to get a new retirement extension in Phuket after return. 800K wired to my account arrive in 2 weeks.

Thank you for your help

You could of gotten a income affidavit at the embassy until to the 31st of this month and used to get your since they are valid for 6 months from the date they are done. To late to try and get one now.

You can get a single entry non-o visa for being 50 or over for retirement in Savannakhet. You will need to show the 800k baht in the bank on the date your apply by showing your bank book updated just before you leave the country. You will also need to show proof you are retired from the embassy. You could do a affidavit stating you are retired or one doing a self certification of a pension or SSA statement.

Thank you!

Just learned about the new US affidavit rules.

from US BKK:

Fact: The U.S. Embassy and Consulate General can neither verify nor guarantee the income ofU.S. citizens applying for visas to Thailand. Personal incomes often come from several disparate sources, both private and governmental.
Fact: The U.S. Embassy and Consulate General do not guarantee the contents of any notarized document. U.S. consular officers have never certified or verified the income claimed on the income affidavits. Their primary role is to verify the identity of the person signing a document.
Fact: The Royal Thai government is aware that the income affidavit provided by the U.S. Embassy Bangkok and Consulate General Chiang Mai is not actual evidence of income.

As the 800 K are not in my account now and seasoned, I can not extend my non-O in Feb. My question was, will I get a new non-O single in Sawannakhet?

The money is not in Thai acc now.

Have only bank statement from US 1 week old, showing 800K++ and monthly income, but not legalized. No pension or SSA statement.

Yes it’s possible. They may want proof of retirement and see the 800K in your bank.

If they won’t give you a non ‘O’ get a tourist visa or re-enter under visa exemption. Once you’re back in Thailand you can apply for a non ‘O’ visa (you don’t need the 800K to be seasoned) at your local immigration office. Once the visa is issued they’ll give you a new 90 day stay. You can then, within the last 30 days of the 90, apply for another 1 year extension once the 800K has been in your account for 60 days.

This is the first I have heard about a 'Proof of Retirement'.

Is there any guidance on what is required for 'Proof of Retirement'?

I can easily produce the 'Annual Statement of Benefits' from my Government Retirement Association, will I still need US Consular Services to verify this or ???

Seems very similar to the now obsolete Income Affidavit...

Thanks!

This is what a rough translation of what it states on their website "Certificate of retirement from the embassy of persons with nationality" (In Thai หนังสือรับรองการเกษียณอายุจากสถานเอกอัครราชทูตของบุคคลที่มีสัญชาติ).

Many people have done a income affidavit showing some income to prove it when they were still available. If you could get anything stamped by the embassy it would be accepted. My suggestion is to do a statement you are retired on a blank affidavit at the embassy which is what some people have done or do a self certification of a statement from your pension provider.

Penang has been asking for the same thing to get the non-o visa.
