Can I bring my own photo for Thai ID's?

Featured Replies

Im visiting Bangkok next month for the first time in years.

Will be renewing my Thai national ID and get a temporary driver's license, and was wondering if I could bring my own photo. I remember the last time they took my picture at each of the places and one of them looked fine while the other, well, I looked like a criminal...

I have a photo taken by a professional just a while ago when I needed to renew my ID here. It would be nice if I could use that instead of risking looking like a disaster again.

No chance of bringing your own photo...as my wife informs me. While there's nothing worse than "looking like a disaster" on official document here in Thailand, please take solace in the knowledge that you've made my day a little less tedious. [emoji23]

No.

No, who cares anyway what they look like on a photo.

Very true. It's not Instagram

They take your picture with a digital cam with a height scale in the back.

The photo is stored with your electronic file.

So no way to use a printed photo that you bring with you.

All you can do is dress properly and have a brush with you (in case you have hair ).

Some random guy taken his picture:

(I think I saw him in the news)
