webfact
Dual pricing: Popular Pattaya golf club overcharging foreigners A golf club in Pattaya has been criticized for overcharging foreigners. An angry expat golfer, who didn’t wish to be named contacted Thaivisa to voice his disappointment at Pattaya Country Club, who are charging foreigners considerably more than their Thai counterparts to take part in its “Swing & Stay” promotion. An image shared on social media advertising the “Swing & Stay” promotion clearly states the ‘For Foreigner’ price being 1,600 baht more than the same package for Thai golfers. The package, which includes a one day, one night stay, breakfast and green fee, costs Thai golfers 3,000 baht, while foreigners have to pay 4,600 baht. The issue of overcharging or dual pricing for foreigners isn’t uncommon and is in place at numerous national parks and historical sites throughout Thailand. However, typically dual pricing isn’t normally in place at privately owned businesses such as a golf course. Thaivisa will contact Pattaya Country Club for comment. -- © Copyright Thai Visa News 2019-01-
dabhand
Oh dear, not even a sneaky 'figures in Thai script' promo. That is the usual approach when organisations go down this route. Admin might have a new vacancy to fill..............!!
JoePai
And while you are wasting your time, what about contacting all the other counties that offer different pricing for locals ?

Again someone that does not know the difference between local and nationality. A Thai from Changmai, would have a cheaper price then a foreigner who lives in Pattaya. I am all for different prices for locals and people living in a country but not when its only based on nationality. Not that I would care one bit about golf. darksidedog
Given the way news travels around here, I somehow suspect that they are going to see a very significant drop in their foreign patronage, which they thoroughly deserve to lose. johng
There are hardly any attractions that don't have the double (farang) pricing.. I remember the Pattaya Sheep Farm as 1 that didn't double charge......any others ???

Pilotman
Look at the Thai average wage for professionals who are likely to want to play golf on their own courses and you have your answer. if you don't like it, don't go.
smedly
you can blame several expat individuals who run golf trips/outings for this, they are in partnership with the owners/managers of golf courses and get a percentage of the fees - been going on for years with prices getting higher and higher for foreigners. Berkshire
Hmmm....just wondering if foreigners who are Thailand residents get the Thai price. This is often the case with places that have dual pricing.
chickenslegs
Maybe “Swing & Stay” includes "extras" for foreign swingers.

While you are 100% correct, your information is not welcome as these dual pricing threads are supposed to be used by the thai bashers to work each other into a frenzy. Most of who would be too tight to pay for a round of golf anyway. If you show up, ask in thai, show them your thai drivers licence, they will always give you the local rate. Not a bad deal, considering it includes a nights accomodation and breakfast thrown in.

Never trusted expats generally but here in Thailand even less so.

balo
I will tell my golfer friends to avoid this club .They should be ashamed of themselves. There are a lot of rich Thais playing golf, many of them are wealthier than the foreigners visiting. Why should they get away with paying less ? If you find one, enjoy it while it lasts. They won't stay in business very long. If everyone paid the Thai price, they'd be jam packed and still not make enough to maintain a decent level of service. If everyone paid the higher price, they'd be like a ghost town and not bring in enough revenue to maintain the facilities. There are excellent business reasons for offering multiple levels of pricing. Look up "overhead absorption" and "incremental revenue". And it's done all over the world. stud858
I would play more golf in Thailand but going by the 1/3 rule it's way too expensive. The navy courses down south gives a better deal though I still don't play often because I've mastered the game already.
