The military is on high alert to assist people who may be affected by tropical storm Pabuk that could hit the country tomorrow.

Defence Minister Prawit Wongsuwan has ordered all military units to monitor the weather and the movement of Pabuk and prepare necessities and communication equipment in case of an emergency, said Defence Ministry’s spokesman Lt General Kongcheep Tantravanich.

“We are assigned to prepare medical aid as well as necessary equipment so that we can provide preliminary assistance to affected people,” the spokesman said.

The weather department forecasts Pabuk will land in the southern region of the country tomorrow and could cause heavy rainfall and flash floods in many areas from today until the weekend.

The Navy will assist people and tourists along the coastline, while the Air Force will be in charge of transporting necessities to people in affected areas. The Army, Kongcheep said, will cooperate with local authorities to help evacuate people to higher lands.

Doesn't matter now, seems they will not be needed anytime in the near future. Democracy elections, same same as 'gone with the wind'.
