January 4, 20197 yr Popular Post No mention of any boots on the ground to help. Other countries would have mobilized extra emergency services and military on standby. Not much use having an operations centre unless they have resources they can despatch, and I don’t mean the ones who just sit in tents and play on their phones.

Thailand already has mobilized its military, the navy have been evacuating tourists from various islands in the south all afternoon.

I don’t see any mention of military or emergency services in the stories you quoted, just “officials” organising a boat for 120 and struggling to deal with 2000 in Krabi. Usually if they are actually doing something the media is full of press conferences saying how wonderful they are. Time for Thailand to mobilize their National Guard, oh whoops they don’t have one.
