Double entry tourist visa still possible

It's not a real double entry tourist visa, only kind of, but i came about something interesting in this thread:

As you can see from the pictures the OP in this thread got two single entry tourist visas which both seem to be valid (when he entered Thailand the IO stamped the first one used and the second one still looks to be good to be used)

Did anybody else here ever try to get a second visa if you still didn't use your first visa? If so, where did you do this and what did they say?

If you would get the second visa just before your flight it is valid for 3 months, so you could use the first visa for the first 60/90 days (or close to 90 days), then make a border run and activate the second visa for another 60/90 days
