visa one year extension

Featured Replies

Coming back from the U.S. on 30 day entry. Can I go to immigration and get a one year extension/visa based on marriage to Thai?

Really don't want to deal with the Thai embassy in Washington. Easier and cheaper at immigration in Thailand.

Yes, you can convert your entry to that of a Non-Imm-O, then pursue an extension, or take a trip to an Embassy or consulate in a neighbouring country and seek another visa.  Then later look to get an extension on that.

You'll need to convert your visa exempt entry to a non-O first.

Then you can apply for the extension.

IMO it would be easier in the long run to get a single entry non-o visa based upon marriage from the embassy in Washington or one of the 3 consulates in New York, Chicago or Los Angeles in person or by mail or one of the honorary consulates in person (https://thaiembdc.org/royal-thai-honorary-consulates-general-in-the-u-s/) than applying for a 90 day non immigrant visa (category O) entry at immigration needed to apply for the one year extension of stay. Applying at immigration will require showing the financial proof and all the same supporting documents required for the extension twice.

the airline may require a ticket out of the country within 30 days of your arrival, as you do not have a visa.
